If you're reading this from anywhere in Western Europe, I'm sure you're feeling the same as I am here: COLD. This has been one of the coldest winters that I can remember in a long time, and just as the snow melts, along comes another dose of white goodness! As beautiful as it is, it has me clamoring for my winter-weather-duds to keep me looking toasty warm, and *hopefully* chic at the same time.
This past weekend I went to a dear friend's house for her son's birthday party. As we were in another city and walking everywhere, we ended up doing the usual long-extended-walk so that our daughter could get a decent nap in the stroller before we hit the party. It was cold. I couldn't push the stroller my hands were so cold! Lucky for me I know the city of Amsterdam well enough that I know a few eco hotspots, one of them is luckily on the same street where my friend lives (conveninent, huh?!). The store is Nukuhiva, and they have some amazing (and sometimes INSANELY overpriced) organic and fair trade clothing, in a beautiful setting that is a welcome respite from the hash-and-dash eco stores that you usually find. Imagine my delight when I entered the store and they were having a sale! It's that time of year here in Europe, so I decided to have a poke around, and found these great long "Ziggy" mittens - just what I needed! Made from pure, new wool from the UK brand Komodo (who is also running a sale at the moment!), they also guarantee fair production of their garments thanks to the trustworthy Made-By label. Yes, yes, and more yes! Obviously I snatched up the mittens and strutted my stuff on the (short) walk to the birthday party, acting like I was the birthday girl!
